USE OF YOUR ONE CARD
Eaglebucks is a declining balance campus purchase account associated with the American University One Card (Card) to provide a fast, safe and convenient way to make purchases (via electronic funds transfers) from cardholder accounts at many locations throughout the American University (University and/or AU) campus and at some off-campus locations. (Electronic fund transfer services permit cardholders and others to transfer funds without the use of cash or checks). The terms and conditions described herein are important notices regarding cardholder rights and your agreement with the University.

1. One Card.

Eligibility. Faculty, staff, and students. All faculty, staff and students of the University are provided with a Card (Cardholder) by the University.

Purpose. The Card is the official identification card for the University. The Card is the property of the University and is issued by the University to the Cardholder only and is non-transferable. The Cardholder may only hold one (1) Card at a time. The Card maintains building access (respective to an individual's current status and authorization), as well as access to Eaglebucks and meal plans. The Card should be carried at all times for access to the University facilities, events, and services. Failure to present the Card upon the University's request may result in removal from the University premises.

2. One Card Usage.

The University rules and regulations govern the use of the Card. Improper use of the Card and/Eaglebucks may result in action by the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, Housing and Residence Life (HRL), and /or the AU Public Safety. Use of the Card may be revoked at the University's sole discretion for violation of the University's rules and regulations. Access privileges of Card will be deactivated when student, faculty or staff status is terminated.

Cardholders are responsible for all charges and obligations incurred on their Card. The Card can only be used by the person to whom it is issued. Cardholders are prohibited from lending their Card to anyone for any type of use, including purchases or access rights, and will be responsible for all consequences that may result from such lending. Consequences include, but are not limited to, any transactions made, and charges incurred by another person or persons. A violation of these terms and conditions may result in the suspension or termination of Card privileges.

3. Eaglebucks Usage/Account Statements.

Debit Card. The debit feature of the Card is optional. The Cardholder will activate their Eaglebucks account upon making the initial deposit on the Card. Activation of the Eaglebucks account signifies agreement with these terms and conditions.

Funds. The Cardholder and others (authorized family or guests) may make deposits on the Eaglebucks account through the One Card Portal. Funds are immediately available on the Card, once deposited through the Portal. Like using a debit card, funds are deducted when purchases are made. Cash cannot be withdrawn from Eaglebucks accounts. Positive Eaglebucks balances that remain on Card will roll over to the next term or year, as long as, the Cardholder is a faculty, staff or student at AU. Eaglebucks balances will carry forward throughout the Cardholder's tenure at the University.

Limitations on Use. In general, there are no limitations on the number of times the Eaglebucks account can be used for purchases, or the dollar amounts of those purchases, as long as, the Cardholder maintains an adequate balance in their account; however, we may assert limits to prevent stolen card abuse.

The Eaglebucks account may not be used for alcohol, tobacco, firearms, lottery tickets, gift cards or tattoo purchases.

Participating Merchants. Eaglebucks may be used for purchases at locations participating in the program on and off campus. These locations are subject to change, the list of which are available at the One Card and Dining Services (OCDS) website. Vending machines across campus accept Eaglebucks, and Eaglebucks are the only form of payment accepted for on-campus laundry services.

Refunds. There will be no cash withdrawals or refunds from active Eaglebucks accounts. Cash refunds will not be issued for returned merchandise purchased with Eaglebucks; instead, Eaglebucks accounts will be credited with the amount of the return. Merchandise must be returned to the location where goods and services were purchased, and returns are subject to the return policy of the Merchant. The University will not be responsible if any establishment refuses to honor the Eaglebucks or for any other problems you may have with an establishment.

4. Stored Value-Separation and Inactive Accounts.

If the Cardholder separates from the University, the Cardholder may submit a written request to OCDS for a refund of remaining balances on the Card. The Cardholder's balance (if any) will be returned (less a $5.00 processing fee) to the Cardholder via a refund check from University's Account Payable.

If the Cardholder does not utilize their Eaglebucks account (i.e., no purchases have been made and/or no money has been added to the account and the Cardholder has not otherwise communicated in writing to OCDS concerning the account) for a continuous period of twelve (12) months, then the University will assess the account a dormant account fee of $5.00 per month thereafter, as long as the account remains open and inactive.

Inactive Accounts. If no activity has occurred on the Card and the Cardholder has not otherwise communicated in writing to the One Card Office, onecard_dining@american.edu, concerning the account for a continuous period of more than thirty-six (36) months, under District of Columbia (hereinafter "D.C.") law, the Eaglebucks funds will be deemed abandoned property that the University must deliver to the D.C. government. If the University has delivered the remaining balance to the D.C. government, the Cardholder must seek the funds from the D.C. government directly (more information available at: https://cfo.dc.gov/service/unclaimed-property).

5. Eaglebucks Fraud Prevention.

Lost or Stolen Cards. A Cardholder should suspend their Card immediately if they believe that their Card has been lost or stolen. It is the Cardholder's responsibility to notify AU Police Department and/or the University OCDS at once if there are mischarges, transactions the Cardholder did not make, or if a Card has been lost or stolen.

The Cardholder can activate or deactivate the use of Eaglebucks by logging into their One Card Portal or calling AU Public Safety's non- emergency line at (202) 885-2527. Emailing (idcards@american.edu) is an additional way to report a lost or stolen card, but this method of notification may take extra time to be reviewed and acted upon. The Card can only be reactivated via email from the University provided email account or by personally visiting OCDS.

6. Other Policies.

Privacy. Information regarding Cardholder's account(s) will not be provided to third parties unless required by applicable laws, in compliance with court orders, or with the written permission of the Cardholder.

Interest. Eaglebucks account balances are non-interest bearing and there are no charges for using your Eaglebucks account.

Insurance. Eaglebucks is not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other federal, state, or private entity.
